Waterjet cutting system with loading/unloading handling
Keyfacts
- Raw material with handling: max. 2100 x 1200 x 120 mm / 20 kg
- Raw material without handling: max. 2500 x 1400 x 120 mm / 60 kg
- Operating time depending on cutting pattern and material thickness: 2–8 hours
- Cutting heads individually adjustable and activatable
- Cutting speed: X-axis 20 m/min (cutting heads); Y-axis 35 m/min (conveyor belts)
- Acceleration up to 3.5 m/s²
Task
For a customer, the goal was to take the next step in waterjet technology: the transition from a semi-automated system to a fully automated solution with integrated stacking and unstacking of the material sheets. Gripping the porous soft materials posed a particular challenge, as they react to temperature and humidity. In addition, the system had to enable precise cut contours with sharp corners even at very high speeds.
Solution
Asytec developed a fully automated waterjet cutting system with specially designed vacuum handling that reliably picks up the sheets via eight individually controlled ejectors. Format changes can be stored directly in the control program.
The use of an open CNC control system allowed for flexible path planning and pre-processing, enabling precise cuts even at high speeds. The result is a stable, flexible, and high-performance production solution that enables continuous 24/7 operation.

Laser marking
Key facts
- Laser marking in three directions via linear axes
- Identification & control via RFID on workpiece carriers
- Cycle time 20-25 seconds depending on the recipe
- Intuitive operation via 22" touch panel & live camera
Task
Products on workpiece carriers are to be automatically guided to the laser marking station in a rotary system. The station must react flexibly to new recipes and carry out product changes independently. Identification is carried out using RFID tags, and marking takes place at 30-second intervals.
Solution
An autonomous laser cell reads RFID tags, labels products on three sides simultaneously and rewrites the chips for further processing. The cell is fully enclosed and is operated via a touch panel. Two cameras allow the operating personnel to monitor the system live. The system works quickly, precisely and is seamlessly integrated into the production flow.
